Tired of your local radio bands?

TUNE INTO THE WORLD WITHOUT LEAVING YOUR HOME!

You can use online receivers – including several hosted by us here at DX Central – to tune into radio stations and transmissions from around the world!  From longwave, mediumwave, HF and even FM, these online receivers can help you hear things you would never be able to hear from your home location!

Here at DX Central, we host and maintain multiple online receivers from our home location at Northshore Studios in Mandeville, Louisiana.  We use a variety of antennas and software-defined radios (SDRs) to provide DXers with exceptional reception capabilities.

In addition to our receivers, you can also find links and information for online receiver hosts such as KiwiSDR, OpenWebRX, Airspy’s SpyServer Network, SDR Console Server, GlobalTuners, SDRPlay and more!

DX Central Hosted Receivers

NOTE: OUR ONLINE RECEIVERS (EXCEPT FOR THOSE WITH ATTIC ANTENNAS) WILL BE TAKEN OFFLINE DURING THUNDERSTORMS.

Shortwave Central KiwiSDR v2.0

Our original and still our most popular. Paired with an elevated KAZ antenna measuring 25'x72' and oriented at 330°/150°. When oriented to the Southern side, this Kiwi is legendary at picking up Latin America on Mediumwave!

DX Central KiwiSDR v2.0

With three constantly available antennas and a rotation of three additional terminated loops, the DX Central KiwiSDR gives DXers the multiple options to DX from the upper end of the HF band all the way down to NDBs and longwave signals.

The "Original" DX Central TEF6686 FM Receiver

Part of the FMDX.org Webserver network, this high performance FM receiver is paired with an InnovAntennas 4-ekement Log Periodic antenna mounted at 33' (10m) and a Kitz KT-501 Low-Noise Amplifier for exceptional reception of Gulf Tropo events, Sporadic Es, Meteor Scatter and more! We will rotate this antenna to "face" the DX during Sporadic Es and Tropo openings, giving you a high performing antenna aimed right at the DX! This log periodic has a wide bandwidth of superior performance on the FM band and is also the antenna paired with our Elad FDM-S3 antenna that all of our full-band SDR recordings are made with. This is antenna #1 for FM DX at DX Central and you have a front row seat!

The "Headless" DX Central TEF6687 FM Receiver

This "headless" TEF receiver features two antenna inputs, switchable through the user interface. These two antennas are our 9-element vintage Channel Master Stereo Probe 9 yagi @ 15' and an "S" FM antenna @ 21'. We will typically rotate the Yagi to "face" the direction that DX is coming in, giving you a high-performing, directional antenna aimed right at the DX! The "S" antenna is oriented to null signals from down in New Orleans, reducing their signal strength and offering better opportunities for DX to overtake the frequency.

The Shortwave Central TEF6686 FM Receiver

This TEF6686 is paired with an absolute beast of an antenna. We placed a homemade omnidirectional FM antenna at a height of 65' and then fed that through a Kitz KT-501 low-noise amplifier to overcome feedline loss. The antenna is basically the folded dipole of a Yagi antenna (the "trombone slide") oriented vertically and fed with a Channel Master balun to 75-ohm RG-6 QuadShield. This vertical orientation gives it a 360° view from 65' in the air! You want Gulf Tropo? We got your Gulf Tropo.

The DX Central "Dipole" TEF6686 FM Receiver

One of our newest additions to the LiveDXing FM receiver lineup. This TEF6686 is paired with our CentreFire Dipole mounted at 21' and then fed through a Kitz KT-501 low-noise amplifier to overcome feedline loss, and a Channel Master balun to gel-flooded, 75-ohm RG-11 direct bury feedline. This is the same antenna feeding one of our autologgers and has a very unique view of the local band!

The DX Central "Attic" TEF6686 FM Receiver

Our newest addition to the LiveDXing FM receiver lineup. This TEF6686 is paired with our homebuilt Faulkner FM Loop antenna and mounted in our attic and then fed through a Kitz KT-501 low-noise amplifier to overcome feedline loss, fed with RG-6 quadshield. This webserver gives us "always on" coverage even during thunderstorms when all other antennas have been unplugged. No more missing Sporadic Es or Tropo openings due to storms! An RDS Autologger will be coming soon tied to this same antenna.

The DXC VHF Receier (Airspy HF+ Dual)

Paired with a vintage Grove Enterprises Scantenna in the Northshore Studios attic, no matter the weather, this SDR provides coverage of NOAA WX, Airband coverage of MSY and Lakefront Airports, AIS on Lake Pontchartrain and the Mississippi River, APRS and more! Uses the OpenWebRX platform for the User Interface, including all demodulation/decoders for AIS, APRS, etc.

NOTE: OUR ONLINE RECEIVERS (EXCEPT FOR THOSE WITH ATTIC ANTENNAS) WILL BE TAKEN OFFLINE DURING THUNDERSTORMS.
